Of course you want to feel beautiful, cute and definitely comfy on the special day of your baby shower as you celebrate the life of your new little babe, and anticipate their arival into this world! Maxi dresses offer the best in each of these worlds, and if you find the right one, they will help you to feel beautiful, confident and comfy while you party!! 🙂 Searching for maternity maxi dresses for a baby shower is a wonderful idea, and I hope you find one that just grabs your heart. I don’t think you’ll regret it!

Maternity Styles

One thing to consider when shopping for a maternity maxi dress for your baby shower is what style you want. Think about the styles that always catch your eye, and the styles you feel most confident in. What style of maternity clothing do you tend to get the most complimenst in?

If you’re lost, I’ll try to help you out a bit with some various maternity styles and ideas.

Bohemian: The bohemian style has usually a very dramatic, romantic flare with lots of flowy and/or lacey fabrics. As a maternity style it would most likely accentuate the bust, and drape dramatically over Baby Bump and the rest of the body. It’s a very elegant style.

Fitted: If you’re super into showing off your baby belly, than you might like a tight-fitted maxi dress, as this style will accentuate your tummy.

Empire Waist: This style of dress is tight-fitted at the bust, but then flows away loosely from the rest of the body. This is probably one of the most universally flattering maternity styles you can choose from. Also it’s easy to come by, and there are a million different patterns and fabrics to chose from.

Where to buy a maternity maxi dress?

Amazon is your number one online friend. They have so many nice styles to chose from, and you can pretty much take your pick without breaking the budget. Amazon has a lot of inexpensive, even cheap dresses, especially if you can find them on clearance!

If you’re not sure what style you want to buy, hit up Pinterest for some inspiration. Maybe you’ll even find a link to an awesome maxi dress that you love, just be careful to stick with trusted brands and companies so that you’re not disappointed with your purchase. Also, avoid shopping with Wish if you desire any shape or form of quality 😉 I’m not bashing the site, it’s a fun place to shop for cheap trinkets and other items that you only have a very short life-expectancy for. But I definitely would not recommend buying from them for a special occassion.

How much is it going to cost me?

The price depends a lot on where you buy your dress. That’s one of the reasons I highly recommend shopping through Amazon. They have pretty decent prices, ranging anywhere from $20 to $40, without many priced any higher than that. If you shop in-store, it will be hard to find anything close to that price in most places. Plus, the maternity section is much larger and more accesible online than it is in-store as you probably know if you’ve spent any time trying to shop in stores.

How to wear a maternity maxi dress on the day of your shower.

Once you have your dress, there are 100 and so ways you can style your dress to add personal touch to the outfit. From your shoes, to your makeup and your jewelry, everything has potential. I love the look of a long necklace worn with a maxi dress. A string of pearls would also look really sweet and add a soft touch.

If the weather is chilly, feel free to add a cardigan or a cute denim jacket over your maxi dress. Both of these can look really nice. Comfortable shoes are probably your best bet at this point in time, but here’s the good news! If the only shoes your feet can bear are old and ugly, just be sure to get an extra long maxi dress that’ll cover up your feet, and no problemo!!

The Maternity Maxi is your go-to.

Honestly I don’t know of a dress more all-around comfortable, flattering and stylish than the maxi dress is right now. If you absoloutely LOVE the way your maxi dress makes you feel (why wouldn’t you?!), why not find a few more and wear them as often as you like? You can dress both formally and casually in a maxi dress with ease (and don’t forget comfort!!). They’re a win-win, so if you haven’t yet, definitely give them a try! 😉

  1. Well, I’m all finished having babies, and I wore comfy pants to my showers. I just figured I looked fat and felt fat and didn’t want to worry about getting cake on anything nice. These dresses look quite glamorous; I would’ve thought they’d be over $100. Now, if I could go back in time I’d show off and look fancy. 🙂

    • haha, that struck me funny! Glad you’ve found some new inspiration, maybe you can pass it on when you know of somebody else who feels the way you felt. Let them know there are some other options! 🙂

  2. Cool, thank you for these nice informations. I’m wondering though, I’m more used to buy my clothes and dresses in-store since I can try them on. Does Amazon or any other sellers online have a size chart? I wouldn’t want to buy something and not wear it! Thank you 🙂

    • Hi Audrey! Yes, I believe some dresses on Amazon do have size charts. Some may not, but you don’t have to purchase those ones if you’re not confident that they’ll fit. Then of course you can always return a dress if it doesn’t fit the way you’d like it to 🙂 But I know that can be inconvenient. Sometimes even without a size chart, reading through the reviews and finding out if other people’s expectations were met is really helpful as well!
